This link fell into my lap this evening and I wanted to share as it's very time limited.  ZoneAlarm, which Carlita mentioned last week, is offering today only a free one year license for their ForceField software.  Simply visit:

Click on the Get Free Product Full 1 Year License (red button).  You'll need to enter your name and a valid email address, and there's a little blurb noting that ZA will send you periodic offers and specials on their products, so be aware of that aspect.  You'll then get an email with a link to download the program and a license key.

Go ahead and grab the program and be sure to save the email for installation.  I have not heard of this version but I'd imagine this offer is to bring attention to it so install if you wish, but I'll install it and see how it does on my main box for a report in the full newsletter this week.  The license key should be valid if you want to sit on it and wait for Thursday or Friday (this unexpected development may push it back a day) to give me a chance to see how it functions and what impact it has on existing security products, system performance and overall stability and connection speed.

If you decide to go ahead with the install, here's one suggestion.  Even though you aren't prompted, reboot the computer after installation.  Email me your opinions on the product and I'll use them this week.

Any step toward computer protection is in the right direction...
