IMPORTANT: New Authentication for E-mail Submissions

As of Sunday night, September 13, 2009, the PC Gurus have implemented a new authentication tool on the E-mail submission page located on the PC Guru Web site.

A few weeks ago, the PC Guru team members began to receive a significant amount of SPAM through our Web site E-mail form. Unfortunately, the only way to prevent this from occurring was the implementation of a CAPTCHA authentication service. To find out more about this tool, please visit the reCAPTCHA Web site by clicking here.

From the reCAPTCHA Web site:

"A CAPTCHA is a program that can tell whether its user is a human or a computer. You've probably seen them — colorful images with distorted text at the bottom of Web registration forms. CAPTCHAs are used by many websites to prevent abuse from "bots," or automated programs usually written to generate spam. No computer program can read distorted text as well as humans can, so bots cannot navigate sites protected by CAPTCHAs."

If you do not understand or can not make out the word shown in the CAPTCHA challenge box, you can click the refresh icon to change the text shown. Additionally, those users who have difficulty viewing text can click on the audio challenge button to receive an audio challenge instead.

We apologize for the inconvenience of this new authentication tool, however it is necessary to ensure that The PC Gurus continue to receive real requests from people with problems. If you have any questions, please feel free to E-mail us using the updated form.
